TYPES OF DECKING MATERIALS

Cedar

Cedar is one of the most beautiful decking materials and is naturally resistant to insects and decay due to its natural oils. Cedar weathers to a silvery gray or its golden red color can be retained by using a sealing agent. There are many stains or sealants available. If well maintained, a cedar deck can last 15 to 20 years or more.

Composite

Composite decking materials is a blend of wood and plastic that retains the pattern and beauty of wood while providing the long life and low maintenance of the plastic components. Composite decking requires a lot less maintenance than a traditional wood deck. Additionally, composite decking is available in a variety of brands, styles, grades, and colors.

PVC

PVC decking materials are known for their high resilience and low maintenance; they are completely resistant to rot and insects. Being 100% plastic and subsequently virtually maintenance free, PVC is more flexible than other materials so it requires closer joist spacing.

 

Aluminum

Aluminum decking materials are completely resistant to moisture, rot, fire damage and insects. Aluminum won’t twist or warp over time the same way other materials can. Aluminum decking can be a prime choice for a raised deck or over a carport as it is waterproof and will keep the area beneath it completely dry.
