You’ve decided to build a new deck and have called me, Scott Lewis of Home Enhancements, to come meet with you and give you a proposal for building your new deck. Here is a description of what you can expect from me in the deck designing and deck building process.
I’ll show up at your door with a clipboard and business card in hand and a tape measure on my belt. I’ll introduce myself and we’ll go to look at the existing deck you’d like replaced or the area in which you’d like a new deck built. My goal is to build you exactly the deck you want, the deck that connects your home to your world and allows you do whatever it is you want to do on your deck. BBQ, entertain friends and family, lounge in the sun, hang out and read a book, sit around a fireplace with friends and talk about life, whatever. In deck building, building your deck, listening to you is imperative. So, I listen to you tell me what you have in mind, the deck areas you’ve thought about and how you want to use them. I will suggest some ideas if you’d like or just listen if you already know exactly what you want. After we’ve talked and I have a good idea of the deck you want I will take measurements, make notes and take pictures so I can get all the details right.
After we’ve met, I’ll go home and create a working drawing of your deck and do the materials take-offs for all the different structural, decking and railing materials involved. A good deck design often encompasses different decking and railing materials, perhaps cedar or composition decking with Aluminum railings, there are so many combinations that can be used. Next I’ll work up all the processes involved to create your deck and how long it will take to complete the job. Then I’ll combine all the information together and send you a proposal for your new deck. A proposal, or perhaps several, if you have different materials and pricing options you’d like to consider.
At this point, you might want to change some of what we’ve talked about or have other questions for me. That’s always fine with me. Once again, my goal is to build you exactly the deck you want to have. I really like extremely happy clients!
