When you’ve decided to have a new deck built, whether through necessity or choice, here are some deck design options to consider.
First, do you like the shape and size of your current deck? All of these and more are important questions as you consider the deck design of your new deck or decks.
Next, in the deck design process, is materials. The structure of your deck should always be pressure treated lumber or other rot/decay/bug resistant materials. The materials choices for the surfaces of your deck are many. The deck surface that is best for you and your deck depends upon a number of factors. Do you like, or are willing , to do regular maintenance? Would you prefer a deck that is basically maintenance free? Your budget and how long you’ll be in your house and/or when you would like to upgrade to a larger or different deck.
